I feel like I had lots of sleep. It's only half after 12.
Putzed
around on the computer a bit, not really awake.
Got
ready for grocs shopping.
Back
after two hours, stayed around for the deliv.
Called
Sel and rode her bike to work, locked it up, gave her the key.
Busy in there.
I scoot out with a nod and a wave.
Walked
back home, took tonight's supper to defrost and rode back
to Sel's
work to help her close. It was fun to ride back together.
Du jours
(ham, cheese and pear sammiches), orange ginger soup and
Killian's
Irish Red for supper. Decided against doing any sort of cooking for tonight.
I marinated
the pork and set it aside for tomorrow.
Did the
rare thing and opted against going online.
Picked
up from where I left off A Scanner Darkly (revisiting the c|punk basics)
but
I can't seem to get into PKD's stylee.
Too... stränge.
Tv is
panacea. But when you're on Bravo and they're showing something new,
you're
glued.
Casino was awesome! Terrible Shakespearean tragedy (everybody gets whacked!).
Fine acting from De Niro as we've all come to expect. Yeah. Him and the
short guy.
To bed
at the early hour of nine, but the heat was unbearable within two hours.
Midnight
snack time!
I'm
lucky enough to catch the entire five minute plus ad for The Chosen,
Ang
Lee's slice for bmwfilms.com
Amazing camera work + minimalist approach = sublime beaut
Since I'm up anyway. A little more tv won't hurt.
The
(behind the scenes) to Moulin Rouge, losing more and more flavor everytime
I see
anything
remotely connected to it.
Am I
getting supremely jaded? Looks like one big music
vid to me.
Bravo
Profiles Marlon Brando.
At certain points I stop from my writing and drink it all in.
The man :was: a great actor at one time in his life, and then again for
the Godfather.
So... what happened?!
I stayed up for this one.
A little
after midnight. The Godfather Saga, still on Bravo.
Nothing
I've not seen before.
I'll
work on my pages instead.
segue into:
It's
the heat all right.
Sel
gets up and we get to watch some skanky (boy was it ever) public access
channel
with
surprisingly inane yawwwn-inducing softcore wannabes. wtf! It was too boring
to be funny.
I think after something like day + a long day, anybody's ready for sleep.
So I did.
Kuei Glossary
PKD
- Philip K Dick. One of the forefathers of the cyberpunk subgenre
of science fiction, whose "Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep?"
was the basis for the first true c|punk film Bladerunner.
Any c|punk worth his bits should know this.
da
hype - Never thought that the day would come
that hype would be it's own counter-effect.
A big movie-goer, I like getting the word on view-worthy Hollywood
every once in a while. I used to see something on the big screen
twice a week. Mostly out of boredom - but the rare thing would strike my
fancy.
Moulin Rouge is severely hyped IMHO. Too much of a good thing.
I thought about seeing it when I first heard about it......but now?
Fuggeda (you know the rest). Maybe I'll wait for something more low-key.
grocs
- short for groceries. Kidding aside, this is one of the things I like
most about
Satdee. Everything is set for the day and the schedule's easy. Grocs get
done.
Then lunch always follows after. The calm molasses like slowness of Salvarmy.
Maybe I'm a creature of habit more than I'd care to admit.

Calendar entry: It's my Dad's Birthday.
It would've been nice to talk to him on the phone, but he's far
away taking care of business back home, sorting out a lot of things.
I've been thinking about him a lot lately.
This is a shout out to my favorite guy.
Happy Birthday Dad! We all love you very much and miss you dearly.
I'll be seeing you soon enough.
(I promised to help him make a webpage for all his vacation pics + stories
he gets back next month.) I can't wait!
